My Story
I started shooting when I was 18 when my dad gifted me a Nikon d3300 for Christmas. I immediately began teaching myself how to shoot both photo and video. After two years of shooting the things that caught my eye and friends portraits I began doing product work through Fiverr and Jungle Market. The success that I found was inspiring, shooting for over twenty companies with very positive feedback.
My success made me leave the field of criminal justice realizing my passion was for media. With some of the money I made I purchased a used Sony a6500. Continuing to push myself I became inspired by artists like Peter McKinnon and Dan Mace. I moved home pursued my associates part time throughout while working. Graduating with my associates degree from community college brought the decision of what next.
If I wanted to take myself seriously I needed somewhere to foster my creativity and push me. I attended Northern Illinois University, pushing away from product work in order to strive for making pieces I was passionate about. Throughout getting my BFA I have been in multiple exhibitions and have been published a few times. The fall semester of 2023 I interned for the NIU Men's Soccer team creating content for them throughout the season. Incredibly committed to the stories and people on the team I was honored as one of three interviewees chosen out of 546 students, for the 2024 graduation ceremony. I graduated in the Spring of 2024 with a BFA in design and media arts.
Humans have always stumbled through time, whether each person lived or not is another question. Connecting, experiencing, and feeling dissolve existence into living. Inspired by artists like Richard Mosse and Cara Romero who use alternative methods to present perspectives. I use various photo and video techniques as a solo producer or in collaborative projects. Without including the viewer in the piece, I believe there is a missed opportunity to build another connection in the world. I have pushed myself through my education and personal work to make immersive work that expands the perspectives, of the creator, the subject, and the viewer. Through weaving perspectives, through creating connections I always aim to make the world more understanding and compassionate.
